About The Owner and Old World Breads
Keith Irwin has been immersed in the bread, pastry and culinary profession for over 30 years. Keith is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and was an apprentice of the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia. Keith later worked as pastry chef for Vail Resorts in Colorado before moving to Delaware in 2000. After relocating to Delaware, Keith worked as a pastry chef for local restaurants until he decided to open his own bakery in 2014. Since then, the bakery has remained a family business, being run by Keith and his wife Trish, who have been married for 20 years. Their daughter Riley is also instrumental in the business as she runs all 4 farmers markets. With the hard work and dedication the Irwin’s put in, along with their talented staff, Old World Breads has become known as one of the best bakeries in Delaware.
Keith is committed to making Old World traditional breads and pastries from scratch without preservatives or enhancers. Using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, each recipe is carefully crafted to ensure wholesome, delicious baked goods our customers have grown to love. Only the Finest Ingredients
We use the freshest ingredients available, often locally sourced from fellow Farmer’s Market vendors and local farms. All our produce is acquired with freshness, flavor, and safety in mind. Our chicken products are made with ethically sourced, antibiotic-free, organic chicken. Additionally, we carry fresh local dairy products such as Milk, Cheese, and Eggs, which are available for purchase in-store. Along with locally made coffees, kombucha, honey, jams, jellies, and more!
We utilize longer fermentation techniques so our breads develop deeper flavors that have created a loyal customer base over the years.
Old World Breads uses Milk, Cheese, Eggs, Flour, Tree Nuts, Seeds, Canola Oil, Olive Oil, Cinnamon, Butter, Yeast, Wheat and Various Fruits and Vegetables in our establishment. Although we offer some products free of common allergens the facility processes common allergens on-site and cross-contamination can occur.
